Back to Godhead Swami Prabhupada.

Everyone has to eat. God also wants to eat. So why not offer your food to God first? Then you can eat yourself. You may object, “But if God takes my food, how will I eat?” No, no. God won’t take it away. Every day, after preparing food, we offer it to Krishna first. There is even a witness—Mr. David has seen this. (Swamiji laughs.) God eats! But He eats spiritually, so even after He has eaten, everything remains on the plate. So, we lose nothing by aligning our desires with the Supreme Lord. We simply need to learn the art of doing this. Nothing needs to be changed. A warrior does not have to become an artist or a musician. If you are a soldier, remain a soldier. If you are a musician, remain a musician. If you are a doctor, remain a doctor. Whatever you are, continue doing your duty—but align it. If I eat and it pleases the Lord, that is my perfection. If I fight and the Lord is pleased, that is perfection. Whatever we do, we must feel whether the Lord is pleased. We must learn this. It is no more difficult than any other task. We must give up our own thoughts and plans; we must accept the perfect plan of the Supreme Lord and execute it. In this way, our life will become perfect.
